FF8 is cool and all, I always thought Squall was a little to emo or goth or whatever you want to call it. did like that enemies levels were based on your parties level so you never had to worry about leveling up. also liked how you stole your magic from your enemies, need more games that use different magic other than, you start with 20 magic and when you level up you get a slightly higher magic pool. i never did finish the game though, was borrowing it from my neighbor and his third disc is scratched up bad, so I'm perpetually stuck in outer space.

Squall didn't fit the central character role as well as other leads like Cloud and Tidus.
I really liked the game though.

Cloud f*cking sucked.
Squall was okay.
Tidus is so likeable it isn't funny.
I think the thing that breached the gap for Final Fantasy characters was the addition of voices. Squall with a voice would probably be easier to understand what he's feeling. (Which until he meets Rinoa is absolutely nothing.)
Cloud was given a voice in Advent Children, and he still sounded like a pansy.
And seriously, what the hell was with wearing a skirt on his arm? Buy a shirt with sleeves, it makes a lot more sense.

Isn't every single male character in the Final Fantasy series a little too emo or goth?

I hate Tidus, I thought he was a chick when I first saw his face. Then again all them do dress close to homosexuals.

That can also be said for anime as a whole.

6 is my fav mainly because it was fun and, well, mostly for nostalgia. I first played and beat it when I was about 5, I think. I had no clue what was going on in the story and couldn't really read the dialog. Still fun, though.
